ch.1 voca Night

•1.Synagogue- a Jewish house of worship, often having facilities for religious instruction. Jewish spend almost all day in a synagogue prying to their gods. •2.Timidity-characterized by or indicating fear. You can tell the little kid was timid when the dog started to run towards him •3.Waiflike- •4.Cabbala-any occult or secret doctrine or science. The Jewish had to cabbala in order for the Nazis wouldn’t get them or find them. •5.Encumbered-To put a heavy load on; burden: a hiker who was encumbered with a heavy pack •6.Indulgently-Indulgently- tolerance, and easy going; my dad is more indulgent then my mom •7.Revelations-Something revealed, especially a dramatic disclosure of something not previously known or realized; some person revelation something personal about me. •8.Mysticism- Immediate consciousness of the transcendent or ultimate reality or God. •9.Sighet- it’s a small town in Romania •10.Lorries-a large motor vehicle for transporting heavy loads •11.Betrothals- the act or state of being betrothed; engagement. My sister got betrothals last night by her boyfriend. •12.Emigration –an act or instance of emigrating. The Mexicans are always immigrating into the us illegally thought the mountains or through the border running. •13.Billeted- an official order, written or verbal, directing the person to whom it is addressed to provide such lodging . Miss jade billeted us to finish our English work by the end of the day. •14.Fascists- a member of a fascist movement or party. My father just to be in a fascists were he had to help people. •15.Firmament- the vault of heaven; sky. The airplane was last seen firmament when it just disappeared for it not to been seen again. •16.Premonition-a feeling of anticipation of or anxiety over a future event; presentiment before my friend got shot in the leg he had a premonition and that’s why he didn’t want to go to that party •17.Avid-keenly desirous; eager; greedy. My little brother is always acting avid when he is playing playstation. •18. melancholy- a gloomy state of mind, esp. when habitual or prolonged; depression. The Jewish felt melancholy when they were getting kicked out of there homes and being sent to the camps.
