ch. 9 Night

•The Jews probably weren't feeling any hatered at the Germans or didn't have any feelings of revenge at that moment because the Jews were happy because they were finally free to go. •2. I think that the mining of night in the book is that ever since they got sent to the concentration camps the Jews have been waiting night after night for them to get their freedom back. •3. Elies struggle in the book is big because it shows everything that she has been through specially when he lost his mom and sister he felt bad and when he his dad dies it shows and tells the problems he had to go through in the story. •4. the survivors often feel guilty for not trying to save there friends or their beloved ones and that now they have to live with everything that the Germans did to them during those days. •5. i think that some ways that elie got to survive was because he was a pretty smart 15 year old kid and he was brave to that’s why he got to survive the holocaust •6. I think that this book is relevant today because you can see how the life of a 15 year old Jew had to go through in a concentration •7. I think that there was a lot of people that gave elie some hope to survive and then there was those who gave him bad ways of thinking his father had a lot for elie to had survive in the story because when elies dad was a live all that kept him going was that he had a hope to see his dad one night more. The rabbi gave him both positive and negative reasons to live but he always told elie that god excited. •8. someone that has influenced in me is my mom because even though I have made lots of bad decisions that today I have to take the consequences for but she has always been there for me even though I take a bad decision she still there for me..

ch.8 section 2 Night

•1. eli was exited because he was going to take a shower and take a rest •2.Not really because their was like 1000 more prisoners trying to take showers •3. His father is ill he has a really bad fever and he acts like a little kid and looks like if he don’t want to live no more •4.He feels like if its not his father he is talking to but death its self •5.He was thinking that hopefully his dad would die but then he felt ashamed •6.He didn’t eat anything because he wanted a cup of water •7.elis father is dying little by little and there's • nothing that the doctors or anybody can do •8. In a concentration camp you have to look out for your self and nobody else there is no fathers, friends or family in there •9.What was the last memory of elie’s father? Elis last memory was his fathers bloody skull •10.What happened to Elie’s father? Elis father was sent to the crematory during the night •11. eli didn’t even cry because he had no strength to cry even tough he really wanted to cry •12. He meant that now he can finally take care for himself

ch.8 section 1 Night

1.Wiesel treats his dad really bad during the journey and he thinks that he's dad is going to die so he just decides to ditch him and try to survive by himself. •2. in his case yeah its just how the guy told eli its every man for himself inside the concentration camp so I can understand what he his dad •3. I thought that it was mean at first but as the story passed by I realized that he had a good reason to ditch his dad

The jews would of die if they didnt stop running •2.a young polish lad worked at the electrical warehouse •3.elie is motivated because he still has his dad •4.the setting is out in the snow going towards to gleiwitz •5. he thinks that he has to survive and he has no faith •6.they have been walking for 43 miles •7. in there break they got to get some rest •8.they have to look out for each other •9.he still cares for his son because he still tries to take care of him •10.hes the rabbi of the community •11.i think that’s mean because he ditched his dad so he doesn't have to die •12. he couldn’t feel his leg no more its all frozen •13. It was his friend juliek the one that plays the violin •14. they had to be in a small room in gleiwitz and it wasn’t nice they were all squeezed •15. His father was sent to the left and he was sent to the right for being weak .

ch.6 section 1 Night

I really didnt like when the boy left his dad because he didnt wanted to die. He doesn't think that his dad is strong enough for him to survive. So he just leaves him and his dad is all worried because he cant find his son. I think that it does effect elie because he prays to the god that he would never have to do something like that to his father. If id be in this situation I would help out someone that was traveling with me specially if it was my father or family member. I would try to share everything with my family member or if he needed something and I had it I would help him.

ch.5 section 2 Night

That day was different because it was “the last day” •2. because he was watching what was going on the camp with the people troubling their sick minds and there crippled bodies •3. Thousand of men prostrated themselves like trees before a tempest •4. Yom Kippur was the whole year •5. To please his father •6.He thinks something bad is going to happen •7.Where was elie transferred to ?what was his new job? To building one twelve hours a day he had to drag of stone. 8. when the SS find a week person they just put them aside and tell them there week and just mess around with them •9.Selection is when they inspect you and if they don’t like you are put in a list to be executed •10. Dr mengele was the one in charge in that block •11.He was in panic because he doesn't want DR. mengele to write down his number •12. Is the knife and the spoon that has been passed down through generation •13. his dad survived butakiba drumer didn’t. •14.It begun to swell because of the cold •15. they are going to a journey so that the Russians wont catch up to them •16.they have to clean because the liberating men are coming so they realize that man lived there and not pigs •17. his dad just realizes that he wants to spend more time with his dad now that he thinks his going to die and now he cares for his son •18.Eliezer did not stay in the hospital because he wanted to on with his dad on the journey he met a guy that was giving him warnings to get out before the next selections

ch.5 section 1 Night

•He doesn't know if he should believe in god because everything that the old guy from Poland is saying to him. That god probably don’t exist but his just saying that because his getting executed in three days. For now he got lucky and they didn’t get his number put down in the list. Now he feels all close to his father now that his father might not pass the selections. He wants to be close to his father and stay with him. Eli has been saved a lot of times from death I think it may just be luck that he has and might even come out alive at the end of the story.

ch.4 section 2 Night

No he didn’t get what he wanted because he told the dentist he wasn’t feeling good and they let him go and weeks later they closed the shop and hanged the dentist •12. they recognized each other and went home together and caught up on what was going on •13. the girl was a Jewish that can speak German and escaped the concentration camps •14. he was angry at his dad for letting happen what he went through •15. some kid named Franek told him to give to him if he didn’t want problems •16. they graved him from the neck and told him that he was going to have to pay for what he did •17. nobody escaped because they were told that if they left the camp they would be killed so everybody was scared •18. no they weren't afraid but they were happy because the camp was being destroyed •19. She thinks if there really is a god and he comes up with a conclusion and thinks there is •20. I think that his religion faith is fading because of everything that the people are saying around him •21. it makes him think that he can be the next one to die or is he going to able to live another day. ch. 4 section 1 Night

I think that people cry is because love one, family members dies, or get hurt and also now everybody is starting to get worried because what if it’s they're the next person that they have to kill or hang. And now Elizier is starting to believe there is no god because of the old man from Poland he studied the bible everyday he knew it in memory. And now the guy says it’s over that there really is no god but I think that he is just saying that because he has no more faith because of everything that he has gone through. Now I think that elizier is going to be worried in camp if she's going to live or die.

•1.The setting is in the wagons going to another concentration camp. •2. He meant that it don’t matter if he dies today or tomorrow because he already feels like a dead person •3. Life was hard in this chapter because they have no food its really cold and they are all turning into scavengers. •6. Chapter 10

•1. David took his many different jobs over school. He felt that what he learned in school was contrast of being successful in the real world, and so he was really working long hard hours instead of focusing in school.
•2. David spent most of his time working at different jobs that he had.
•3. David thought his father was in some kind of trouble because he had called many different stations and had heard no word from him. All they said was that they would get the message out to his father, and that he worked at different stations on different shifts.
•4. Mr. Tapely was David English teacher. David would often go and visit Mr. Tapely and ask him questions about his future.
•5. His relationship with his father is pretty much nonexistent. When they do see each other both of them say very little, and they find it hard to express their emotions. David describes his dad as having a dead soul.
•6. I think that his dad is probably very damaged because of all the things that have happened with the mother and the rest of the family. He feels as if he has failed his children and wife, and so he has turned to drinking to avoid some the pain. David is able to recognize the tuff thi his dad is going through, and wants so much to help but knows it is best fro him to move on to better things.
•7. The meeting with has dad was very serious and mutual. Both of them were not really comfortable sharing their emotions with the other. David’s father told David that he must get out, leave and go far away so that he could start his new life and separate himself from all of the evil memories that have trapped him.
•8. Yes I can relate to David’s and his father’s relationship. My dad and i have a pritty good relationship. Maybe because when i see him, we go out an do thing like eat , watch a movie, or walk around a park and, visit other family members, but thats all. I really love my dad !
•9. He tells David to get out of there because he does not want to see his son end up like him. He wants success for David, and he knows the only way that it can be achieved is if David moves on and starts with a clean slate and an optimistic mind set.
•10. During the summer of 1978, after dozens of interviews, David landed a job selling cars. Selling cars felt mentally exhausting to David. The upper managers would threaten the sales staff one day, then bait them with money incentives the next.
•11. More than ever, David sought guidance from Duinsmoore Drive. He talked with Mr. Brazell of his dream to become a Hollywood stuntman, and he also went to talk to the Marshes about his future in the Air Force.
•12. David rode north to the Russian River where his old family had spent countless happy hours. He did not quite remember how to get there but he eventually found it by instinct.
•13. After David finished high school he proudly enlisted into the United States Air Force.
•14. I do believe that enlisting into the Air Force was a good choice for David because it will allow him to obtain the discipline and strength he will need in any occupation he may choose later in his life.
•15. After he enlisted in the service, David heard from his mother. Her voice was not that of the evil mother, but rather his mommy from years ago. She told David that she thought of him all the time and that she always wanted nothing but the best for him.
•16. I think his mom really does not know what she thinks herself. I fell as if she has a split personality, and when she tells him that she has thought about him it is genuine. However, her feeling of love towards David is short lived because of all the stress she likely has. She is just a little crazy.
•17. Alice has taken the place of David’s mom. She always stood by David through hard times, and she loves and embraces him as her own son. David finally sees who his real family is, and feels at peace.
•18. Of course David will visit them, but as far as move back in, I don’t think so. David is a very independent and mature young man now, and I think he embracing any challenge that life has to offer. He is ready to live on his own.
•19. David has lived at his real families house, Aunt Mary’s home, the Catanze’s home, Alice’s home, the Null’s home, Vera’s home, the Hill, and finally the Walsh’s home.

Chapter 9

  • 1. David feels like he has a dark cloud over him because he believes at any moment he may be sendback to the hill. He must look around every street corner for a county car. He just wishes he had a place to call home.
    •2. Every night he prayed that Gordon Hutchinson would come and decided his fate. David was wearing ragged, moldy clothes and still sleeping on the couch. He needed a real home.
    •3. Alice tell David that she and Harold are working on getting their boy fostering licenses and that she would like David to stay for as long as possible.
    •4. Harold never seemed to talk to David, and when he did he just utter a few word he was just trying to get David to read instead of watching television. Although Harold was much of a friend, David still respected him immensely.
    •5. Ever since David was a small child, he fantasized about building a log cabin at the Russian River, so he sometimes imagined him and Harold working on it together.
    •6. Dr. Robertson was David’s new psychiatrist. He greeted David with a handshake, and turned out to be the complete opposite of David’s first doctor. He treats David like the teenager that he is, and never forces David to talk about anything he doesn’t want to.
    •7. I think that it will help David eventually. It is important for David to talk to someone about the things that have haunted him for so long. It is the first step in mental recovery.
    •8. There are a few things in this chapter similar to my life. For example, the fact that David is deemed stunt king later in the chapter is very relatable to my life. I have always liked to perform dangerous stunts, not for any amount of money prize, but simply for a feeling of accomplishment.
    •9. His speech problem disappeared because Alice taught him how to slow down his train of thought, and try to picture himself saying the words before they came out.
    •10. Alice is a very involved mom. She loves walking with David to the mall, and watching movies with him. Also, she often buys him toys for no apparent reason. For the first time David feels like a real kid.
    •11. David is beginning to learn how to accept presents. Up until now he has never felt that deserved presents so it is a big change for him. The most important gift David received from the Turnboughs was a chance at being a kid while being prepared for life as an adult.
    •12. Being alone in the wide open world was the scariest thing that David could imagine. Up until now he never had to think more than hours or days into the future. The idea of making a life for himself seemed impossible.
    •13. David felt as if he had nothing in common with the other kids at his school. Wile they all fought to impress others by acting cool, David really didn’t care one way or the other what people thought of him. He felt like the outcast.
    •14. David wanted to learn how to cook. He was pushing 16, and since everyone else was either going to Disneyland or Hawaii, he felt as though he needed to find some skill that he could call his own.
    •15. David left by choice because he was disgusted with the two, older foster boys that had moved into the home. They did not work, and many times they would find David’s savings stash and steal money. David made it clear to Alice that if those boys stayed he would leave.
    •16. His new family were very chill and laid back, allowing David to come and go as he pleased. They neighborhood they moved to consisted of houses that looked more like miniature mansions, and every car had a astounding shine to it. It was the perfect place to live.
    •17. David’s new friends are two boys from that live on his street named Paul Brazell and Dave Howard. David took an instant liking to the two, and they constantly raced each other on their mini bikes.
    •18. I think she is a very stereotypical, and simple minded piece of scum. She talks to David in a disgusting tone and constantly talks about “his kind,” and how he should give up on his future because he does not have what it takes to make it in this world.
    •19. The Marshes are neighbors of the Walsh's. David spends countless hours with them and their children. They have an enormous book collection in their house and David loves to read as much as he possibly can, sometimes taking books home with him and finishing them in one night.
    •20. The stay at the Walsh’s was nice at first, but as arguments began to be a regular routine David was becoming desperate. Whenever he anticipated an argument, David would quickly direct the kids out of the house as to avoid any physical or verbal

•Swerved: To turn aside abruptly in movement or direction. I’ve swerved when I fight with an opponent.



•Deliberately: Carefully weighed or considered; studied; intentional. My po officer deliberately observed my attendance at school .



•Gleaming: A brief beam or flash of light . I hate the gleaming light from the morning .


•Shuddered: To shiver convulsively, as from fear or revulsion. I shuddered when I saw the devil in my dream.


•Wheezed: To breathe with difficulty and with a whistling sound. I wheezed after I fought six rounds .


•Clenched: To close tightly . I clenched my fits when I begin a fight.


•Bait: Food, or some substitute, used as a lure in fishing, trapping . I have to have bait to catch fish in the ocean.


•Splurge: To indulge oneself in some luxury or pleasure. My girlfriend like to splurge me when we go out to town.



•Advantage: Any state, circumstance, opportunity, or means specially favorable to success, interest, or any desired end. If my opponent is shorter than me , I have an advantage of wining a fight.



•Withered: To dry up or shrivel from or as if from loss of moisture. I need to know how to withered my plants of herbs .



•Aptitude: Capability; ability; innate or acquired capacity for something; talent. My aptitude is skate boarding.



•Frenzied: wildly excited or enthusiastic . My homie was frenzied when he got out from jail.

Cinder:A partially or mostly burned piece of coal, wood. To smoke Huka , you have to cinder on top of the tobacco .
Scurry:To go or move quickly or in haste. I made people scurry for their life.
Incorrigible:not corrigible; bad beyond correction or reform: incorrigible behavior. My attuide was incorrigible back in elementy.
Accelerated:To cause faster or greater activity, development, progress, advancement. My girl and I relationship accelerated to a point that i dont wanna see her.
Validate:To make valid; substantiate; confirm. I validate my po objectives , now iam off probation.
Tendencies:A natural or prevailing disposition to move, proceed, or act in some direction or toward some point, end, or result. I broke my tendencies in my leg.
Erupted:To emerge violently from restraint or limits; explode. Theirs time when i erupted and now i am paying for it.
Beaming:Radiant; bright. A lazer beaming in your eye can lead you blind .
Superintendent:aA person who oversees or directs some work, enterprise, establishment, organization, district. I've meet evey superintendent in the SouthBay district.
Evaporated:To change from a liquid or solid state into vapor; pass off in vapor. I have a habit to evaporated water from a pot.
Enchanting:charming; captivating. An enchanting smile.
Circumstantial: Of pertaining to, or derived from circumstances. What kind of circumstantial you dont get about coming home late.
Nudging:To push slightly or gently: I am nudging when iam tyrping.
Corroboration: A corroboratory fact, statement. Corrcboration is a word that i do not follow.
Ample:Fully sufficient or more than adequate for the purpose or needs; plentiful; enough. My woman ample all my time.

•Elated :adj, very happy or proud; jubilant; in high spirits . In high school I was elated at the football games.


•Strut: Verb, to walk with a vain. When I am walking , I have this strut with my chest thrown out.







•Plotted : Noun, a secret plan or scheme to accomplish some purpose. I’ve plotted many scams in my life.





Objective: Noun, something that one's efforts or actions are intended to attain or accomplish. I have no objective in my life.





Swiveled: Noun, a fastening device that allows the thing fastened to turn around freely upon it. A drill swiveled in circles very fast.

Distinguished: adj, made conspicuous by excellence . Pensioners can be very distinguished.

•Aborting: Verb, To give birth prematurely or before term; miscarry. Young girls end up aborting when they are pregnant.



• Erupted: Verb, To emerge violently from restraint or limits; explode. I erupted when I ate the schools burritos .


•Plodded: Verb, to walk heavily or move laboriously; trudge . I plodded after I ate so much food.
• Britches: Noun, Breeches . My dog britches every where I go.



•Defiant: adj, boldly resistant or challenging. I’ am very defiant when it come to talking to a polices officer.

• Salivated: Verb, to produce saliva. My little brother have salivated all over hi pillow.
